Support for Quitting Smoking

Quitting smoking is a great decision, whether it is a New Year’s resolution or a commitment to better health. Withdrawal can be very challenging and may tempt one to give up on quitting. The following can be a source of physical support to help ease the discomfort of detoxification.

These smoothies are packed with antioxidants and cruciferous vegetables which are known to protect against lung cancer.

Lung Detox Smoothie 1
1 pear
1/2 cup arugula
1/4 avocado
1 date
2 cups water

Lung Detox Smoothie 2
1 apple
1/2 cup dandelion greens
1 leaf red cabbage
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cucumber
2 cups water

Lung Detox Smoothie 3
1/2 cup spinach
1/2 cup Swiss chard
1/4 cup cilantro
1/4 cup tomatoes
1-1/2 cups water

Place any set of ingredients into the blender and puree until smooth.

Lung Detox Tea
This tea helps break down and expel mucus from the lungs and reduces inflammation in the bronchia.

1/2 gallon water
2 tablespoons elderberries
1 teaspoon licorice root
4 whole clove buds
1 whole orange, sliced

Place all ingredients in a large pot on the stove. Heat to boiling. Cover, boil 5 more minutes. Let sit covered for 5 hours for maximum extraction. Strain and serve. This amount can be ingested in 1 day for 1 week. Take a break for one day and resume the cycle if needed.

Enjoy good health!
